It’s easy to disregard the IT field as being little more than people repairing computers or installing software. But the truth is that there are plenty of different career paths available for those that want to work in IT, ranging from repair jobs to the administration of entire systems.
When getting into the IT sector for the first time, a recent graduate might find it difficult to choose which career path to follow. Here we will look at some of the more popular career choices in IT.
Software Development
Currently software development is one of the highest-paid and fastest-growing career paths in the world, and it’s not hard to see why. Not only is it a career that sees the creation of new software that can be used by potentially millions of people across the world, but at the rate in which software adoption is taking place, the demand for developers is growing at an astounding rate. This makes it for a truly lucrative career, and even junior developers can start earning fairly good incomes.
Cybersecurity
The world of cybersecurity is vast, and there are multiple different careers that can be found within the cybersecurity sector. This might be as someone who finds exploits; someone that writes technical documentation; someone that works on encryption, technologies, and so much more. It’s another sector that is in demand of a wide array of different specialists, and it’s notoriously difficult to make it in the world of cybersecurity.
Data
Being able to work with large sums of data is a unique skill that is growing in demands cross the IT industry. Data scientists and data administrators are both fantastic careers that pay well and offer plenty of opportunities to rise up the ladder. Data usually requires a fairly strong background with complex and technical work, and having a degree related to computers can be a big help in finding employment.
Network Technician
There needs to be someone around to link all the computers together, to make sure that everything is working properly, and to provide assistance when the network is down for whatever reason, such as when the internet is down or a person can’t enjoy their favourite real money casinos in Malaysia. Network technicians focus on building network infrastructure, particularly within corporate environments, but they can also build networks for the public, such as satellite internet or fibre.
Cloud Engineer
Cloud computing is not really a new invention, but it’s only been in the last few years that it has really grown in popularity. Despite much of what happens behind the scenes being run automatically, there still needs to be human oversight, as well as engineers upgrading the systems and keeping things running smoothly. This is where a cloud engineer comes into the picture.
A cloud engineer will often work for well-known cloud platforms, such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure. There, they will write code and perform maintenance on their cloud architecture of choice, and it’s a career that’s become almost as popular as software development.
